Formation of River Indus After the partition from British two seperate countries were formed that are Pakistan and India. Pakistan being founded in August 14 1947 and India on 15 August 1947
Pakistan as an Agricultural country The new born country was blessed with six rivers (previously) those are Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej and Beas.In 1947, India blocked the river Beas. In 1948, somewhat the water was reopened but was closed.
IWT (Indus Water Treaty) In 1960, World bank with Ayub Khan (president of Pakistan at that time) went to India to discuss the matter. Some rules were made by World Bank. 1. Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab are of Pakistan 2. Rivers Ravi, Sutlej and Beas are of India but India cannot build dams on it or block the water from reaching Pakistan.
